delicious summer healthy eating meal plan

delicious summer healthy eating meal plan

I don't know about you, but I have a real love / hate relationship with summer.  Like most people, I guess, I love the thought of summer when I am sick of winter.  And then, when summer is making it unbearable to go outside, I am begging for winter to return. When it is hot,  it is hard to think.  It's hard to find the desire or motivation to cook in a hot kitchen.  So for summer meals, I have tried to go really simple this year.  We use our BBQ a lot - steak with fresh corn has been...

are your thoughts making it hard to think? find out how to live in the present

I'm sick today.  I have a cold and for the first time, in a long time, I'm at home.  Alone.  Completely by myself. It's so quiet.  I'm sitting on the couch by the windows with a view outside.  It's a warm, sunny day and from my seat I can see the tops of the eucalyptus trees that stretch across the sky.  There's a breeze from the overhead fan and occasionally I can hear a car drive past or the fridge compressor switch on. There's no children chatting, playing or arguing in the background.  No call of "Mum, I'm hungry" or...

living life. now. no matter what your weight is.

It's Sunday morning here.  Not too early - just before 7am.  I've been awake for hours, fighting off horrible dreams.  Not dreams about monsters or serial killers.  Instead, thoughts, dreams and feelings that we (probably) all experience almost every single day.  I was dreaming about being left out of the cool group.  If I was 10 years younger, I'd be making a joke about FOMO. Fast forward to my 30th birthday.  Still relatively young, but not so trim anymore.  Probably about 10 kilograms above my ideal weight.  Not enormous, but not so great. Along came my 39th birthday earlier this year - no longer young and now firmly in the 'definitely fat' camp.  On my 39th birthday I was 30 kilograms overweight, sitting...

fat people can’t eat in public

One of the things I love about the fresh food markets are the delicious smells that waft around me as I stumble through them.  I'm usually barking out orders to the kids - "stay close", "watch out, there are people trying to walk past", "yes, I know that you are hungry and we can eat something when we get home", "okay, you can eat some raw broccoli, you freaks". My favourite market food is a tasty curry.  I love the smell of the spices, fresh coriander and of course, naan bread.  Life is complete with naan bread.  Walking past, I...
